While it is heartening to know that
of Singaporeans care about the environment
felt they lack the options to act on sustainably

REFASH was founded in 2016 by Aloysius Sng who had a simple idea: to encourage recycling within the fashion community. It sparked after he realised his wife and female friends were wearing only 30% of their entire closets. This compelled him to help connect them, and their rarely worn clothing, to other people with a similar fashion sense.
Since its inception, REFASH has rapidly grown in size. Today, they occupy nine physical locations nationwide, a bustling online store, and have even expanded to Malaysia. Through this development, they hope to further reduce textile waste and promote longevity in fast fashion, creating a more sustainable future for nature and our environment.
In addition to being a secondhand apparel marketplace, REFASH hosts events like Ecofest 2019, a collaboration with other eco-friendly brands. They aim to push for greater awareness on sustainable living, allowing consumers to be more conscious of their daily habits. The goal is to move towards an economy that reuses and recycles, thereby reducing waste.
Geneco is excited to be working with REFASH towards a zero-waste fashion industry by reusing and rewearing secondhand clothes. Through this collaboration, we hope to further raise awareness and educate people about REFASH’s ‘wear like new’ mission.
Let’s all sew a future by reducing textile waste. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more details.
Anyone who’s been to a mass sporting or community event would definitely have seen the incredible amount of waste generated from things like single-use plastics to even banana peels.
While most of these events have a recycling programme in place, a lack of expertise and coordination hinders their effectiveness. This is where Green Nudge comes in.
Working closely with companies, communities, and even small groups of friends, Green Nudge empowers everyone to really make a difference. Not just for a day or two, but for life.
Through interactive eco-education tours, talks, workshops, and even pre-to-post support for large-scale events, Green Nudge uses subtle behavioural nudges to ensure even the smallest effort will make a big difference over time.
Everyone can play a part to save the Earth and Geneco is delighted to help Green Nudge power a positive change in the community.

In Singapore, a country known as a food paradise, at least 1 in 10 experience food insecurity. Yet, food waste in Singapore continues to grow every day, generating a whopping 788,600 tonnes of food waste every year.
Troubled by these statistics, Nichol Ng co-founded The Food Bank Singapore, creating a centralised food resource management in the country that allows for unwanted or unused food to be given to those in need, rather than going to waste.
Today, The Food Bank Singapore takes the food donations they receive from various retailers and manufacturers, and redistributes them to over 200 beneficiaries, providing safe and nutritious food to many who are hungry.
Geneco is proud to be hosting Bank Boxes at our roadshows. We believe that the simple act of donating your unwanted food items can go a long way in reducing food waste in Singapore while giving much-needed sustenance to the less fortunate.
Follow us on our Facebook and Instagram for any upcoming collaboration with Food Bank and to find out how you can make a contribution to their cause.
When Veerappan Swaminathan founded Repair Kopitiam in 2014, he wanted to fight the growing waste problem in Singapore by teaching Singaporeans how to repair their broken items.
Since then, Repair Kopitiam has grown in strength; hosting monthly workshops, where their volunteer repair coaches guide attendees along as they try to inject new life into defective or damaged objects together.
By showing people how easy it is to put a stop to our throwaway culture, the organisation hopes to promote sustainable living among Singaporeans and, eventually, reduce waste for good.
Repair Kopitiam is working towards a zero-waste Singapore by fixing broken items, instead of throwing them out. And we, at Geneco, fully support this wonderful cause.
Keep an eye out for more details on our Facebook or Instagram about upcoming events in collaboration with Repair Kopitiam.
