Take a Step Towards Change This Earth Month

Singapore has increased its 2030 solar deployment target to 3 gigawatt-peak (GWp), following the successful achievement of 2 GWp target ahead of schedule, accelerating the transition to cleaner energy by expanding solar deployment across more viable surfaces.

This Earth Month, you and your family can play a meaningful role in shaping a more sustainable future. The 2026 theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” reminds us that collective action starts with everyday choices, whether it is at home, or at work.

As Singapore’s No. 1 Residential Electricity Retailer, our commitment to sustainability goes beyond Earth Month. Through supporting nationwide efforts like the National Parks Board’s (NParks) #OneMillionTrees Movement, we continue to play our part in building a greener Singapore, while inspiring everyone to do the same.

Here is how you and your family can make a difference this Earth Month.

Immerse Yourself in Nature with Ohmori

Caring for the environment can begin by taking time to reconnect with the world around you, and Sitting with the Sky, a gentle Forest Therapy session by Ohmori, offers a meaningful way to do so. Happening on Sunday, 26 April, from 4.30pm to 7pm at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, this experience invites you to move at your own pace, take in your surroundings, and enjoy the calm of the evening sky.

As you wander among trees of varying shapes and textures, you may notice how each of them leans, stretches, or holds space around you. The walk leads to an open area where the sky stretches wide above, letting you rest your gaze on the clouds and evening hues. Through guided sensory practices and optional sharing, you are encouraged simply to be present—no performance, no expectations, just a gentle connection with nature.

Each session supports NParks’ Give To The Gardens Programme, with 10% of proceeds contributing to the maintenance of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Certified Forest Therapy Guide Long Yuan facilitates the sessions, creating a safe, healing space for participants to explore their own relationship with nature.

Grow Your Own Greens with Green Thumb

Gardening is a great way to reconnect with nature while making mindful choices that benefit your home and the environment. Green Thumb offers multiple workshops that give you the chance to learn practical, hands-on skills to cultivate herbs, vegetables, and edible greens right in your own space, all without fertilisers or pesticides.

In these 2 to 2.5-hour sessions, you and your family can turn kitchen scraps into seedlings, make natural fertiliser, and repurpose household items as garden pots. You will also learn to pot and repot plants, treat soil, and maximise limited space to grow more in less room. By nurturing your own plants, your family can enjoy fresh, healthy produce at home while reducing waste and your carbon footprint.

Each workshop includes starter materials and 30 days of follow-up support through a dedicated WhatsApp community of fellow gardening enthusiasts, so you can continue your gardening journey with confidence.

Get Moving for a Cause with Singapore Environment Council (SEC)

For families looking to stay active while supporting a meaningful cause, the Move for Earth Endurance Challenge is a rewarding way to do both.

Organised by SEC, this nationwide challenge turns everyday movement into environmental action. Every kilometre walked, run, cycled, or swum helps raise funds that support environmental education, wildlife and habitat protection, sustainable business practices, and the Singapore Green Label programme.

Getting started is simple: register for free, create your fundraising profile, and raise at least $30 to qualify for the leaderboard. Once set up, you can begin the challenge at your own pace, with activities tracked via the STRAVA app (or synced via Garmin).

To reach your fundraising target quickly, share your fundraising page with friends and family to rally support, and post your journey using #SECMoveForEarthChallenge to inspire others to join.

As you reach personal milestones, you will unlock achievements that recognise both your fundraising efforts and movement, from early achievements to special rewards like the Ollie the Otter plushie.

The challenge runs until 18 May 2026. Join today, track your progress, and make every kilometre count.

Sow Seeds of Change with NParks’ Plant-A-Tree Initiative

With a vision to transform Singapore into a “City in Nature,” NParks has already planted over 832,000 trees as of January 2026 as part of the #OneMillionTrees initiative, steadily progressing towards their goal of greening the nation with one million new trees by 2030.

This Earth Day, we are proud to renew our pledge with another 250 trees for the next five years. As part of Geneco’s 8th Anniversary celebrations this year, we will be contributing the first batch of 50 trees through our annual Plant-A-Tree initiative. Having already exceeded our initial 250-tree pledge made in 2021 with a total of 450 trees planted, this renewed commitment will help continue expanding Singapore’s green canopy.

Creating a greener future takes all of us, and you can join the movement too. Whether by sponsoring a tree or rolling up your sleeves to plant one, your contribution will help nurture the lush canopy that future generations will enjoy.

You can visit here to find out how you can get involved.
